Goodbye 2025, Let's recap!

Hi all!

We are fast approaching the end of the year, so I guess is also a good time to do a little recap and reflection for 2025.

This year was as busy as the last few years, but the total projects was lesser. There were projects that got delayed or dragged on much longer than expected and the overall market was just quieter this year.

I do appreciate the the creators I got to work with this year and I look forward to next year!

TIMI MEETS MDM BIBIK

'Timi Meets Mdm Bibik' was the second book of the 3-part series, written by Dr. Carolyn Kee. This book series teaches children to deal with different types of fear and manage your emotions. I did the first book back in 2024 but sadly I wasn't able to finish the 3rd and last book this year. It shoud be ready in early next year.

After finishing book 1 back in Sep 2023, I kinda hit a plateau especially with the stories. I was deciding between continuing book 1 stories or letting readers to be able to enjoy book 2 without reading 1. So this project had been in the backlog for a while, and occasionally brainstormed for new ideas.

I decided to finish book 2 this year so I had been working on it on and off this year and finally doing the Kickstarter in Nov. Thankfully it was a success, and the book is being printed! (while I was writing this post)

SINGAPORE BOOK AWARDS 2025

I was honored to be the artist for this year 'Best Young People's Non-Fiction' Winner, 'Biogirl MJ'. This was the 2nd book for the series and 1st book won an award too back in 2023. I was also the artist for the another finalist, 'Secrets of Singapore: Mission Maritime'.

This year I was invited again as one of the instructors for the i-Leap workshop organized for secondary school Art students. I taught comic creation in this 3 and 1/2 day workshop and they were to create their own comic and present them on the last day.

I didn't have a lot of classes this year but most of them were great. Most of them. LOL

Overall this year was a year of learning and realization. Learning how to work with others, learning to be more 'rounded' with people, learning to say no to things that aren't worthy of your attention or effort. I am still learning, and I am very glad most of the people I encountered were very tolerant and understanding. A big thanks to all those who helped and accommodated me, and an apology to those I offended or didn't react professionally enough to. I will try and be better next year.

So what's next for 2026? I do have some thoughts and ideas in mind, and I shall spend the next days penning the down. As next year I will be 45, I feel like I should really decide on what is worth doing and trying, conquering the fear of trying new things.
